History of Mandalay Cat
The breed of Mandalay cat surprises and fascinates the New
Zealand breed at first sight. The history of the appearance of these animals -
a simple accident, which, by the way, among felines is not so uncommon. One
day, Jen Parsons saw from the window of her house that in the yard to her brown
cat Burmese breed the black cat is a black cat, in appearance -
oriental type. Here, it should be noted that in New Zealand almost all street
cats belong to the oriental type.
Of course, the hostess hastened to protect her pet from the
encroachment of a black stranger, but it was too late. This became known 10
weeks later when the kitten of unusual color was born, and Jen Parsons
immediately became clear who, so to speak, is the culprit of the celebration.
Of course - the same black oriental cat.
The female kitten was very much liked by the hostess, and
she named it zanyminx Ebony ("Shalunya Ebony"), after the shade of
the pet, which was exactly like an ebony tree. Kitten turned into a cat of
stunning beauty, unusual black color, with a very neat physique. Subsequently,
this cat was paired with Burmese male blue color, which has a picture
of the wool of the cat point ("seal point").
Two females were born in a given amount of time, of which
one had better external characteristics and a more harmonious character. It was
she who was chosen for the subsequent breeding program. Another branch from
which the Mandalay breed appeared was initiated by two breeders - Dorothy
Horton and Pat Hogen, again, from New York. They crossed Burmese cats with
bright red local oriental type.
All these events, both in the first and second cases, took
place over a period of approximately 20 years, in the 1970s and 1980s. And
then, breeders, so to speak, found each other, and in 1990 they presented the
best representatives in WCF, where they literally immediately received official
recognition as a new breed of cats.

As for the character, here the breed of Mandalay cats is, we
can say, the ideal representative of the cat genus. These are very kind,
affectionate pets who love attention, but are happy to give their love to the
family in which they live.
They have a very flexible and adaptive disposition, so they
perfectly perceive people as such, and can live in a private house with their
own yard, and in a small city apartment. Although, in the latter case you need
to provide the animal with proper activity through various games, toys, cat

sight of it, as it is a rare and expensive breed, not to mention the fact that any
cat - is a member of the family.
Breed Mandalay has a developed intellect and a huge
curiosity about everything that happens around, so be careful and close the
doors of cabinets and bags carefully. Otherwise, your pet, most likely, will
want to see what is inside and whether you can play with it. As you may have
understood, these animals have a high level of energy, they love activity, but
sometimes they just like to relax with the owner.
With children get along perfectly, have a huge softness in
regards to them, and patience, which, in fact, can be both a plus and a minus.
The fact that the child, not seeing the response from the animal, can
accidentally harm him, and therefore, be sure to teach your child the correct
treatment of the pet. With other animals get along well, never show unreasonable
aggression, do not attack first. If you live in the private sector, rodents and
birds may be an exception.
Common diseases in Mandalay Cat
Since this is a fairly new breed and its representatives in
the world are very few, there is no significant research on hereditary diseases.
In general, these are healthy cats with good metabolism and immunity, not prone
to obesity.
How to take care of Mandalay Cat?
The Mandalay cat has a short, silky coat, slightly softer
than its closest cousin - Burmese. It should be combed 1-2 times a week,
and enough. Always make sure that your pet's claws have been trimmed and your
ears and eyes cleared of sediment. Don't forget to brush your teeth as well.
Buy a cat as needed, every few months.
