what is the history of the Longhair Cat?
The American Longhair cat is a relatively young breed that is rapidly gaining popularity in Europe and America. These animals appeared when a group of breeders wanted to create a breed with the eyes of Persian cats and the appearance of an American shorthair, but everything turned out completely different.
The American Longhair received wool, which in length is a cross between the American Shorthair and the Persian, a slenderer physique, and, in fact, everything. Except for the fact that some individuals have not long, but long hair, while others, due to the recessive gene responsible for the length of the hair, have completely short hair.
That is, cats of this breed are born in three variations out of three possible - long-haired, half-long-haired, and short-haired. At first, they wanted to call the breed "Silvery Longhair", but again everything went wrong, as the breeders had planned, an unthinkable number of flowers and their combinations appeared, and the cats were called American Longhair.
Breeders tried to add other cats to the breeding program in order to develop the breed and give it the desired qualities. For this, British Shorthair, Burmese, and Russian Shorthair were taken, although, in the end, then all the same they had to be crossbred with Persians to increase the length of the coat. The breeders of Persian cats at first showed their disapproval of the new breeding program, and the appearance of a breed of cats, which (in their opinion) cannot be called independent.
Despite this, the American longhair cat is already registered in many international registries and quickly wins not only the hearts of the teleological community but also the hearts of ordinary cat owners. In order for a cat to be recognized as an American longhair, a pedigree that includes Persians must be clearly traced.

what is the description of the Domestic Longhair Cat?
These
cats are a great choice for anyone looking for a gentle and kind
companion. Despite the fact that they are strongly attached to their
owners, these animals may well remain alone at home if you go to work. They
get along well with dogs and other pets, the exception of maybe birds, and that
is not always the case.
The
American Longhair has a muscular physique, a wedge-shaped muzzle of the correct
form, and medium-sized ears. The tail is slightly longer than average,
fluffy, legs of medium length. Life expectancy is about 15 years or
longer.
What is the personality of the domestic longhair cat?
American
Longhair is a very kind and cute cat with a beautiful character. Despite
the fact that their pedigree contains the blood of Persian cats, in their temperament, they are completely different from them. These pets are strongly attached
to their family, have great friendliness, and give their affection to each of
their beloved people. They do not specifically identify someone as their
master if they live in a family. However, they feel great with a lonely
owner, making his life more interesting.
The
American long-haired cat is a clever animal, it understands people well,
understands their internal state and mood, it is not weak-tempered and not
forgotten. But if it is harmed, especially if it is unreasonable and
unjust, the cat becomes more reserved, timid, and begins to shy away from close
contact with people. However, this is easy to understand - a person in
place of a cat would react in much the same way. American Longhair is
wonderful for children, and in general, it is not an aggressive animal, with a
good tendency to be patient, and soft.
These
four-legged friends have a high level of energy, but, like all cats, sometimes
they like to just sleep on a soft sofa. You need to provide your pet with
games, toys, and you just need to spend time together, especially since this
breed is always happy about this. This breed does not often give a voice,
and more likes to remain silent, although this is not an absolute rule. It
gets along well with other animals.
what are the common
diseases in domestic longhair cats?
American Longhair is a healthy breed, without any significant inherited diseases. Nevertheless, you need to monitor the nutrition and living conditions of your pet, as even the best health can be undermined.
how to take care of the longhair cat?
An
American longhair cat with long or semi-long hair requires regular brushing, at
least once a week. You also need to clean your eye's daily deposits and
monitor the cleanliness of the ears. Claws are trimmed about once a week, bathe
a cat as needed.
