Lykoi Cat
History of Lykoi Cat
The breed of cats is a new face and arose due to the
spontaneous gene mutation of ordinary, domestic shorthair cats. Johnny Gobble,
Britney Gobble, and Patti Thomas are considered the founders of the breed, and
that's how this interesting story developed.
Patti Thomas received as a gift several kittens of a
slightly unusual kind, resembling mutated sphinxes, in July 2010. To find out
whether or not these kittens are coming from hairless cats Petty took them
for a DNA test to Dr. Leslie Lyons. The test confirmed that the kittens had
nothing to do with either Devon Rex, not to any hairless cats. Since Petty
Thomas did not understand the breeding of cats and had no free time, no
opportunity, no desire to engage in this process and create a nursery, she gave
unusual kittens to John Gobble, a veterinarian by training.
John and Britney Gobble conducted a lot of various tests and
studies, including with the involvement of specialized specialists. After that,
John Gobble came up with the name and filed with TICA all the necessary
documents to register a new breed. Since May 2018, the Lykoi cat breed has been
officially recognized by the CFA. Now John and Britney Gobble are finalizing
the standards of the breed in relation to colors.

Description of the Lykoi Cat
As many of you know, the cat face got its name from
mythology, and it means something like a werewolf. The appearance of the animal
is indeed very unusual, and in many ways resembles such a creature, however, it
goes against its internal qualities. He is an affectionate, kind, and
intelligent pet, very focused on people, active, and loving.
The partial absence of wool on the muzzle and paws, large
expressive eyes, elegant physique - are the main distinctive external
features. The breed of cat’s face has a snout wedge-shaped, ears in size more
than average, slightly diluted to the sides, a short tail, sometimes almost
without wool. Life expectancy is 12-15 years.
The Personality of Lykoi Cat
One of the main distinguishing features of these cats,
except, of course, appearance, is their amazing intelligence. They are
extraordinarily intelligent and just as affectionate. It can be said that the
appearance of these pets does not reflect their inner world and character.
Lykoi - affectionate, kind, very friendly animals who love
to spend time with their loved ones. This goes against their image and the name
of the breed, making these cats even more unique and special.
Despite the fact that the face will be happy to sit on your
lap and get a certain share of human affection, he still likes active pastimes.
It can be games, both independent and involving the owner, hunting for rodents
or birds if you live in the private sector, climbing trees, and just having an
active time on the street.
Their amazingly developed mind allows you to memorize the
names of items and simple commands, some even claim that cats of the breed of the face can be taught to bring objects like dogs.
They perceive children calmly and will be especially happy
if they find a participant in their games. If the child will carry the animal
around the house and generally behave sloppily - the face will simply leave.
Strangers are treated with caution, and always first assess the situation, and
the person before getting in touch.
By the way, they treat water more neutrally and with
interest than negatively. The cat can play with water dripping from the tap,
but swimming it is still, rather, will not like.
Common diseases in Lykoi Cat
The breed of cats is a person to be healthy, they usually do
not have any problems, and they have no genetic predispositions to serious
diseases.
How to take care of Lykoi Cat?
In this respect, everything is about the same as with other cats, with one small nuance - when you will clean the ears from dirt, be sure to wipe with a damp cloth and behind the ears, as this breed there accumulates sweat.
Teeth need to be brushed at least 3 times a week, once every 10 days to
prune claws, wool can be combed rarely, a couple of times a month. Bathing is
usually carried out on average once every 2 months. Also, do not forget to
clean the cat's eyes, it is done as deposits accumulate (usually once every 1-2
days).
