Cornish Rex
History/profile of Cornish Rex
The first Cornish Rex appeared in Cornwall in 1950. The
breed was named so similar in color with a rabbit-rex. As is often the case
with unusual breeds, there was one kitten in the litter of a domestic cat,
which was different from the other. He was born with a natural mutation that
made him have curly hair. When he grew up, he was associated with his mother on
the recommendation of genetics, which led to the appearance of litter with two
more curly kittens.
Cornish Rex is popular all over the world and is very
popular among cat lovers. The breed was recognized in 1967 by the British
Register of Thoroughbred Cats and in 1979 by the American Association of Cat
Lovers.
