Are Nebelung cats rare?
The name of this breed takes us to the world of ancient magical forests of Germany, brooding and snowy. One would assume that Nebelung cats originate from the area, but this is not the case. A breeder named Cora Cobb was really inspired by the ancient history of these places, and even named her nursery Nebelheim, although it was located in Colorado, USA. In fact, these cats are a kind of Russian blue, only with longer hair.
It can be said that the breed appeared by accident when in the litter of a cat named Elsa appeared Siegfried - the only long-haired kitten. Breeders quickly realized the prospects of creating a new breed of cat and made every effort to successfully implement. The second litter brought the cat Brunhilda, and, we can say, the whole genus of cats of the breed Nebelung originates from her and Siegfried.
They gave the first litter in 1986, and in the next few years’ breeders supplemented the breeding program of Russian blue cats, which carried the gene of long wool. They were imported from Eastern Europe (USSR).
The International Association of Cats gave status to a new breed of Nebelung in 1987, however, the full recognition of these cats was received only 10 years later, in 1997. By the way, the word Nebelung itself is of German origin and translates literally as "foggy creature."

Nibelung is a thin breed in every respect. And this is
evident in every movement of this animal. It moves with a slight grace, as if
only slightly touching the surface of the floor, while, loves active games and
hunting.

do not like excessive attention from strangers, not very willing to converse
with other animals and small children. On the other hand, their loving heart,
devotion and affection, high intelligence, and beautiful wool with a misty,
are able to conquer everyone, if not at first sight, then at first touch.
The body of the cat is large enough, but not massive, paws
of medium length, strong and muscular. The cat's look is shrewd and
intelligent.
Nebelung lives on average about 15 years, like most cats.

pet partner.
Unlike many other breeds, the breed of cat Nebelung has
no destructive vein, and in the absence of the homeowners will not destroy
