History/Profile of
The breed of Californian radiant cat, despite the fact that
the color resembles a leopard, is artificially bred. The history of the
creation of the breed is very touching and appeals to the highest
manifestations of human mercy.
It all started when Paul Arnold Casey - a Hollywood playwright
and screenwriter, in the mid-1970s, was on professional business in Tanzania.
And in this African country, as you know, especially in those days, poachers
massively exterminated leopards for their skins of incredible beauty, which
were in high demand in Europe and America.
Then Paul decided to breed a breed that would be a smaller
copy of the leopard. Perhaps, in this case, he thought, people would just start
a live cat, with a pattern of wool like a leopard, and would not buy skins
extracted by poachers. From the idea to its implementation has passed a lot of
time - the breed was presented to the public only in 1985.
The breeding program used Siamese, British, Manx, American
shorthaired, Abyssinian, and, moreover - spotted cats from Malaysia and
Egypt. Since the wool of these pets has a tinge, which is especially visible in
the sun, they were called radiant. Formation and breeding of the breed took
place in California, which was also reflected in the name. In 1986, these cats
first appeared in the Christmas catalog, Neiman Marcus. The California radiant
cat breed is registered with the International Cat Association (TICA).

The breed of Californian radiant cat has large sizes, a muscular physique, long and slender paws. The ears are slightly larger than the
middle, the muzzle is wedge-shaped, the tail is long, having the same thickness
along its entire length. There are two possible colors of this breed - first
and second gold - snow leopard (black spots and cat on a white background).
Life expectancy can reach up to 20 years.
The Personality of
Breed Californian radiant cat has a huge amount of internal
energy, and the task of the owner to direct the activity of the animal in the
right direction, which contributes to a variety of games. Otherwise, your pet's
energy can be directed in a destructive direction, which will directly affect

California radiant cat refers to shorthair, and therefore
big problems with its hair you will not meet. It is enough to wash the cat once
a week. Bathing should be done every 2-3 months, if you do it too often, the
wool may become less silky and lose its luster.
Do not forget to monitor the cleanliness of the ears and
eyes, as well as brush your teeth at least 3 times a week, and even better -
every day. The claws are usually trimmed every 10 days. This breed needs
periodic walking on the street, moreover - it will be quite good if the owner
of this cat lives in a private house with its own garden.
