Arabian Mau
The history of the emergence of the Arab Mau breed is lost over the centuries since these animals did not arise as a result of the selection and attention of breeders but by themselves. Now for certain no one can say where they came from in the east, who their ancestors were and when from what places they came. However, it can be said for sure that for more than ten centuries this breed has inhabited the territory of the UAE, and has recently been very popular all over the world.
Arabian Mau
It is believed that since ancient times, Arabian Mau cats have lived apart from people in desert oases, cities, and settlements. That is, sometimes, despite the proximity of human civilization, these cats retained relative wildness, for the most part without coming into close contact. On the other hand, some individuals were tamed by humans and were highly respected as helpful and affectionate animals.
Around the second half of the 20th century, cat lovers from the UAE began to pay serious attention to these pets as independent breeds with pronounced characteristic features. Thanks to its ancient history and natural selection, the Arabian Mau breed is robust, has an innate hunting propensity, and a flamboyant personality. More on this below.

Description
The Arabian Mau cat is small in size, proportionally built, but has ears that are larger than average (relative to the body) size. However, this does not disturb the balance at all, these cats are beautifully built, and have a lot of interesting colors.
Their character cannot be called very soft and pliable, at least in relation to unfamiliar people, small children, and other pets. On the other hand, if handled correctly, problems can be avoided. The average life expectancy is 14-16 years.
Personality
These are active cats, and this circumstance cannot be ignored in any case. Despite their relatively small size, they have a strong and sturdy body and no less strong character. After all, these are children of the desert, raised by the sun and hot winds. Natural selection has done its job, and their intrinsic dignity, combined with a love of freedom, is sometimes very noticeable.
In addition to a love for their family and owner, these cats have a clearly expressed understanding of relationships, and if you treat your pet without proper respect and kindness, the return will match. In other words, he will not automatically see you as the master, by default, as some kind of superior force. On the contrary. If a cat of the Arab Mau breed does not respect you, which directly depends on your behavior and attitude towards him, it will not work to break his will.
Cats of this breed of cats need activity and walk, however, the issue must be approached wisely. Including because it is a valuable rare breed in our area. Walk your cat on a special cat leash and spend time playing with the right toys at home. If you live in a private house with your own garden, these are ideal conditions. After all, then the pet will be able to climb trees, hunt, and spend more time in the natural environment.
Common diseases
The Arab Mau cat breed is distinguished by good health, and, in general, does not get sick. All the same natural selection made them strong and healthy cats. No predisposition to any genetic diseases has also been identified. However, the pet needs to be provided with a complete diet so as not to undermine good health with bad food.
Care
Since the Arabian Mau cat breed developed in desert conditions, they do not have an undercoat. Combined with short hair, this minimizes grooming – brushing should be done at least 2 times a month. This is usually enough. You can also bathe 2 times a month, although here you need to build on specific conditions. If the Mau spends a lot of time outside, you can bathe more often. Claws are trimmed once a week, also remember to keep your ears clean.
