Javanese (Javanese cat)
The Javanese cat breed is named after the island of Java, and logically, it should turn out that cats come from these places. But this is not at all the case - cats have nothing to do with the Island of Java in their origin. This breed was bred artificially, and Balinese cats played a big role in this. In addition to them, Colorpoint and Siamese participated in the breeding program.
At one time it was believed that Javanese cats are a separate breed, however, in 2008, the Cat Fanciers Association changed its mind, declaring that from now on it is a subspecies of the Balinese breed. This is considered until today, although not all associations, specialists, and breeders agree with this. On the other hand, cats carry many traits of the Siamese breed.
The logic of the name is as follows - the island of Java is located near the island of Bali, and the Javanese cat breed, in turn, is also very close to the Balinese breed. It may seem strange and there is no direct relationship, nevertheless, it is so.

Description
The Javanese cat is smaller than average and has an unusual
appearance, also due to the structure of the coat. The ears are large, the
head is wedge-shaped, the body is slightly elongated, and the paws are slender, and of
medium length. The cat as a whole gives the impression of a rather elegant
pet of small size, with a fluffy tail, moreover, the amount of hair at the tip
of the tail is much greater than at its beginning. The image is completed
by deep, blue almond-shaped eyes.
The kindness and sharp mind of these cats, combined with
patience and affection, make them an excellent choice for literally every
loving owner - from single people to large families.
Personality
We can say that this breed simply loves people, which is why
cats are friendly to literally everyone if a person does not show a negative
attitude or aggression. They treat children well and are able to literally
enjoy human company and games with a child.
On the one hand, this is good, however, there is a downside
here - these cats cannot be left alone for a long time, since an excess of
affection and the absence of loved ones nearby will lead the animal to mental
suffering. The Javanese cat has a high intelligence, which, however, is
never used out of spite. Even the playfulness and playfulness of these
pets always have a certain limit that they do not cross.
On the other hand, a Javanese cat always understands when
they are talking about it, feels the situation, quickly realizes what they want
from it, and opens doors and simple latches, but does not create unnecessary
problems. This is one of the best breeds for families with
children. Another feature of the Javanese is talkativeness. These are
very sociable cats that can convey their desires and mood through various
intonations of the voice.
Common diseases
The Javanese cat has health problems, and that's a
fact. Among them:
- bronchial asthma;
- amyloidosis;
- megaesophagus - gastrointestinal disorder;
- aortic stenosis and other heart defects
- progressive retinal atrophy (in this case, you can conduct a DNA test that will help identify a predisposition to this disease);
- strabismus;
- lymphoma is a type of cancer.
Some neurotic problems may also arise, namely:
- hyperesthesia syndrome;
- nystagmus.
Many of the above problems can be avoided by providing your
cat with good nutrition, proper care, the right living conditions, and a loving
family.
Care
The coat of the Javanese cat is of medium length and needs to be brushed once a week. You also need to bathe your pet every three months or as needed, trim your nails about once a week and remember to brush your teeth - at least 3 times a week. Ear hygiene is also important - you need to regularly remove dirt and deposits.
