Foreign White
History of the foreign white cat
Foreign White occurred in the process of breeding Siamese cats, and to date, not all felinological organizations recognize these pets as an independent breed.
The appearance of cats was preceded by one accident -
Patricia Turner, a geneticist by training and a feline geneticist by vocation,
saw a highly lightened photo of a Siamese cat.
She came up with an interesting thought - what if you create
a subspecies, completely white? From the idea to its implementation, Patricia
Turner took several years, however, as you know, patience and work are capable
of a lot.
The first breeding program took place in the UK and began in 1962. Within its framework, Siamese cats were crossed with British shorthair pure white color, and after a few years, the first successful results appeared.
The difficulty was also to breed a cat of the Siamese breed
of white color, with blue eyes, but, at the same time, devoid of deafness
genes.
As you know, white and blue-eyed often carry this gene.
Today we know this breed called Foreign White, which literally means
"Foreign White", or White Siamese.

Description of the foreign white cat
An incredibly beautiful animal, kind, intelligent, and affectionate to its family members, the cat is undoubtedly a foreign white. She has a truly inimitable charm, and, at times, it seems that her every movement is created for the photographer's lens.
This breed understands much more than
it seems at first glance and often chooses its owner among family members.
Foreign White is a medium-sized cat, muscular, strong, very
elegant, and mobile. The legs are long, slender, muscular, the ears are slightly
larger than average, the muzzle is wedge-shaped, of regular shape. Lifespan
15-20 years - these cats can be true long-livers if provided with good care.
what is the personality of foreign white?
The foreign White cat breed carries many of the personal characteristics of its Siamese brothers. They are very fond of cleanliness, and as if they independently feel that they look flawless, this flawlessness must be maintained with all their might.
They are intelligent and very
intelligent, they understand a person perfectly, they always know when they are
talked about. And, of course, this breed loves attention and human warmth,
although it fully bestows its loved ones with affection and kindness.
Their mind is active, they are very inquisitive and curious,
they love to explore new places, at least in the immediate vicinity. Well, if
you live in the private sector, have your own house, because, although this
breed is not among the born hunters, such as, for example, Norwegian
forest cat, yet the pursuit of prey, spending time in the fresh air, in the
grass and on the branches of trees will give your pet great freedom and joy.
The foreign white cat has a soft and patient temperament, although sometimes it is not ceremonial in expressing its emotions and desires. However, they are devoid of capricious aggression, are not vindictive, and generally try to solve problems in a kind way.
This is especially important when it comes to friendship with children - foreign white in this regard is
difficult to reproach.
They normally get along with people of any age, however, they need attention and activity, games, and interesting pastime. They are quite attached to people and do not like loneliness.
Strangers are perceived
normally, without unnecessary rejection, but there may be problems with other
pets. Especially if you're going to buy a parrot or guinea pig.
what are the common diseases in foreign white cats?
This breed is in good health, and, practically, has no
tendency to deafness - this is extremely rare. However, due to inbreeding,
sometimes the following complications can occur:
breast tumors are the most common feline tumors, accounting
for 12% of all feline tumors and 17% of tumors in foreign white.
congenital peripheral vestibular disease. Clinical signs
develop at 3-4 weeks of age, and there is usually an increase in clinical signs
at the age of 3-4 months. Clinical signs include head tilt, imbalance,
nystagmus (rapid horizontal or rotational eye movements), and ataxia
(uncoordinated walking).
hydrocephalus – hydrocephalus is the most common abnormal
brain disease. It may have genetic roots.
How to take care of the foreign white cat?
The breed belongs to shorthair, and therefore, it is
enough to comb these cats 1 time per week. Foreign White should be bathed once
every 2-3 months, trimmed claws every 10 days, ears should be cleaned once or
twice a week, and eyes should be cleaned every day or as needed. Since these
are demanding cats in terms of hygiene and cleanliness, be sure to make sure
that the tray is clean.
