Toyger Cat
History of Toyger
The Toyger cat is a relatively new artificially bred breed,
which received full registration only in 2007.
The history of the emergence boils down to the fact that the
American breeder Judy Sugden wanted to improve the features of the color, and
later a completely new breed of cats was obtained, which differs not only in
the color of the coat but also in certain qualities. In other words, she
created a breed of cats not only similar in color to the tiger, but also with
the character of this wild animal. The cat is also called "tiger in
miniature".
By the way, the mother of the breeder Judy - Jean Mill, was
also a famous breeder, she owns the creation of a famous breed. Bengal
cats.
Judy's own striped domestic cat was used for crossing, as
well as a Bengal cat. It is their genes that are the basis of the breed,
although, a little later, a simple street cat was added to the crossing. What
happened afterward exceeded all expectations - a bright, contrasting striped
color, circular stripes on the muzzle, a squat body, and to top it off - a kind
character. The name of the breed comes from the combination of two English
words toy - toy, and tiger - the tiger.

Description of Toyger Cat
The Toyger breed is a miniature domestic tiger. They cannot
be called small cats, since males can reach 6 kg of weight or more. The body is
muscular, correctly built, the features of the color are the maximum contrast
of tabby stripes and the background, regardless of the shade, and circular
stripes on the muzzle. The pads of the paws should be black.
They are very kind and calm, while quite active and
intelligent. Toyger cats often choose a high point in the room, whether it's a
closet or a door, to observe what is happening. Many representatives of this
breed love water, which is quite rare among cats.
What is the personality of Toyger Cat?
Kindness and friendly attitude to a person - it was on these
qualities that Judy Sugden originally focused on. After all, she wanted pets to be
full-fledged domestic cats, and make a person's life better.
In addition to the affection and love that the Toyger cat
gives to its family members, this breed is characterized by high intelligence
combined with obedience. Not only is it fairly easy to accustom them to cat
life - for example, a tray, but they can even be taught some commands. Cats of
the Toyger breed are really smart, and this can be seen even in the eye. In
addition, they have an inherent poise of character, which makes them excellent
companions for the whole family.
These cats are not cranky by nature, have a moderate level
of activity, and will happily both play with your child and bask in their laps
with a purring cat song. Toygers love attention and love, but they are devoid
of pain perception and will not be offended if you just go to bed after a
hard day at work without giving them enough attention.
The Toyger cat gets along well with almost everyone,
including other pets. This is due to the poise of their character, as well as
friendliness to others, whether they are adults, children, or other pets.
What are the common
diseases in Toyger Cat?
Cats of the Toyger breed for the most part have good health,
do not have pronounced pathologies or genetic inclinations to any diseases.
How to take care of Toyger Cat?
All care is reduced to combing the coat, which usually needs
to be done no more than once a week since the breed belongs to the shorthairs.
Otherwise, everything is standard - brushing your teeth (best every day, but
you can do it every other day), weekly ear care, and bathing at least 2 times a
month. The claws are trimmed once a week or as needed.
